Fla. man gets 1 year in fatal punch

A former chiropractor from Florida has received the maximum one year prison sentence after killing a 78-year-old man with a punch in a Stamford parking garage.

The Stamford Advocate reports that Judge Gary White told William Lindemann that he'd acted cruelly and callously toward Herbert Davidson in the January 2009 confrontation. Lindeman left the older man bleeding on the pavement without calling for help.

Lindemann, who was in his late 40s at the time, hit the much smaller Davidson after Davidson berated him in a diner parking lot. Lindemann said he was defending himself and thought Davidson had something in his hand.

Davidson died six weeks after the attack.

A jury found Lindemann not guilty of first-degree manslaughter, but convicted him in June of a lesser charge of criminally negligent homicide
