<p>Tropical Storm Irene caused between $1.2 million and $1.4 million in damage to the city when it blew into Stamford in August and knocked down 500 trees, took down an $80,000 traffic signal in downtown, and caused $500,000 worth of repairs to the Cummings Beach sea wall, city officials said.</p>
